Dear Parishioners,

I want to thank Fathers Neil Pezzulo and Kenn Wandera of the Glenmary Home Missions for joining us at OLPH last weekend. I also want to thank all parishioners who responded to their appeal and made donations to support the work of Glenmary. We will make a report on that collection in the coming weeks.

Our parish School opened last Wednesday, August 17. We have the highest enrollment in our School in many years. This is a tribute to the fine quality of our faculty, staff and programs, as well as to our students themselves and the commitment support of the parents of our students. We can be very proud of our parish School. Please pray that this school year will be blessed abundantly.

Our parish Religious Education programs will be opening later in September (after our BBQ). It is not too late to enroll in our elementary level (grades 1-8) classes and our sacramental preparation RE programs (First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation). Our programs are in both English and Spanish. For more information, contact the RE office at the numbers provided in the list of Parish Organizations and Ministries (printed on page 6 of the bulletin).

It is hard to believe, but our parish BBQ is in three weeks. Please mark your calendar for September 16, 17 and 18 and join us for some great food, entertainment, games and a chance to connect with old friends and meet new ones. How good it is that we are able to have this gathering – after not being able to do so the last two years! I look forward to seeing you. Please invite family and friends, co-workers and neighbors and former parishioners. Also, this weekend please pick up some books of raffle tickets to purchase as well as to sell. A successful raffle is one of the key ingredients in the financial success of our BBQ.

I want to thank in advance the many people who have already been involved in the planning of these three days, and to urge as many parishioners as possible to volunteer to help in the preparation and execution of the plans for the BBQ. As the old proverb goes, “Many hands make light work.” To volunteer, contact either Cheri at (661) 904-6027, or the Sisters (Spanish) or Deacon Terry (English) at the parish office (661) 259- 2276.

Jesus, who invites us to the banquet of the Sacred Eucharist, thank you for the gift of Yourself! Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for the growth of our parish family and for the graces needed by each member of our community.

Quiero agradecer a los padres Neil Pezzulo y Kenn Wandera de Glenmary Home Missions por acompañarnos en OLPH el fin de semana pasado. También quiero agradecer a todos los feligreses que respondieron a su llamado e hicieron donaciones para apoyar el trabajo de Glenmary. Haremos un informe sobre esa colecta en las próximas semanas.

Nuestra Escuela Parroquial abrió el pasado miércoles 17 de agosto. Tenemos la registración más alta en nuestra escuela en muchos años. Este es un tributo a la excelente calidad de nuestra facultad, personal y programas, así como a nuestros propios estudiantes y al compromiso de apoyo de los padres de nuestros estudiantes. Podemos estar muy orgullosos de nuestra Escuela Parroquial. Por favor, oren para que este año escolar sea bendecido abundantemente.

Los programas de Educación Religiosa de nuestra parroquia se abrirán más tarde en septiembre (después de nuestra barbacoa). No es demasiado tarde para inscribirse en nuestras clases de nivel elemental (grados 1-8) y nuestros programas Educación Religiosa de preparación sacramental (Primera Confesión, Primera Comunión y Confirmación). Nuestros programas están en inglés y español. Es difícil de creer, pero nuestro BBQ parroquial es en tres semanas. Espero verte pronto. Por favor invite a familiares y amigos, compañeros de trabajo y vecinos y antiguos feligreses. También les pedimos que este fin de semana recojan algunos boletos de la rifa para comprar y vender. Una rifa exitosa es uno de los ingredientes clave en el éxito financiero de nuestro BBQ.

Quiero agradecer de antemano a las muchas personas que ya han estado involucradas en la planificación de estos tres días, e invitar a la mayor cantidad posible de feligreses a que se ofrezcan como voluntarios para ayudar en la preparación y ejecución de los planes para el BBQ. Como dice el viejo proverbio: “Muchas manos aligeran el trabajo.” Para ser voluntario, por favor comuníquese con las Hermanas o con el Diácono Terry en la oficina parroquial (661) 259-2276.
